जब माता सीता लंका की अशोका वाटिका (ashok vatika) में थीं. तब वहां हनुमान जी पहुंच गए. जहां वो माता जानकी की स्थिति देखकर बहुत दुखी हुए. वे उनकी अवस्था देखकर मन ही मन अत्यंत दुखी होकर पीडित होने लगे. यहां गोस्वामी तुलसीदास जी माता सीता जी (mata sita) के संबंध में कह रहे हैं, कि उनके नयन अपने श्री चरणों में थे और वे श्रीराम जी के पावन श्रीचरणों में लीन थीं.
